Google introduceert het World Wonders Project, een nieuw cultureel digitaliseringsplatform, in samenwerking met partners als UNESCO, World Monuments Fund, Getty Images en Ourplace. Het World Wonders Project wil werelderfgoed in stand houden met behulp van verschillende technologieën en informatiebronnen. Daarbij maakt het gebruik van de Street View-technologie van Google om gebruikers de mogelijkheid te bieden een keur aan erfgoedlocaties in 18 landen virtueel te verkennen. Het project omvat 132 historische locaties, waaronder Nederlandse locaties als de Beemster Polder en de molens van Kinderdijk, het werelderfgoed in Stonehenge, het archeologische gebied van Pompei en de eeuwenoude tempels van Kyoto…” Lees verder »

Google komt bij zijn World Wonders Project ook met zogenaamde “Teachers guides”.

The World Wonders Project is a valuable resource for students and scholars who can now virtually discover some of the most famous sites on earth. The project offers an innovative way to teach history and geography to students of primary and secondary schools all over the world. Feel free to download these educational packages for your classroom use.

Zo is er ook een “handleiding” voor het basisonderwijs (pdf). Uiteraard wel in het Engels.
